Meet Our Soccer Mentors
Better Together is excited to announce its sport-specific mentorship program. Athletes can be matched with a lacrosse mentor who plays at the collegiate or high school level. Mentors can help the student-athlete navigate their physical, mental, and emotional journey and the challenges they will face on and off the field. Using resources from Better Together and their own experiences, Mentors will help the younger generation of athletes have the tools for a better chance of happiness and success.

Personal Statement:
"Better together is so important to me because, too often, athletes feel like they are going through challenges alone. We are taught that being tough means hiding what is going on beneath the surface. Better together allows athletes to lean on one another. It is the support network I wish I had when I lost my best friend in college. We are far more powerful together!"

Personal Statement:
"My junior year of playing collegiate soccer while balancing being a student-athlete, recovering from an ACL injury, being a captain of my team, and supporting my teammates, an incredible sports performance coach said to me, “Maddie, you are like a duck. On the surface it seems as though you are effortlessly gliding on top of the water, staying afloat, while underneath, you are paddling furiously to keep your head above water.” To this day, this metaphor has stuck with me, reminding me of the intricate relationship between mental health and performance and that often we do not see how ferociously people are paddling underneath the surface. Better Together is an incredible platform to allow athletes to build a network of support and challenge us all to care for our emotional and mental wellbeing just as much as our physical health and wellbeing, recognizing and honoring all that’s going on beneath the surface."

Personal Statement:
"It's really important to me to be able to give support to student athletes because of the unique struggles that come along with playing sports at a high level. I would not be the person or player I am today without those who stood behind me and helped me achieve what I have. Every athlete has their own path and experience. I want to be there to help along the way."

Success in sports isn’t just about technical skills—it’s about mindset, community, and self-belief."
